Day #4 (July 21)

Grandma woke up in the middle of the night thinking the washer was not working right. There wasn't anything wrong, but she was quite anxious. We were able to give her a benadryl and she seemed to sleep better.

She woke up this morning "feeling funny." and I wasn't sure if it was lack of sleep, the benadryl or something else. I listened to her lungs and her right lower lobe had less breath sounds than the rest of her lungs. This is concerning for me, so we worked hard on breathing exercises yesterday. She was able to get a morning nap which helped her as well. We did morning exercises and she's really getting stronger.

We had a nice lunch and her blood sugars stayed within normal range, so she was encouraged. We're also down a full 10mg on her Prednisone, which raises blood sugar, so I think that helped.

She had someone come over to do her hair yesterday and I tell you, my grandmother was back. She was joking with the lady and I could tell felt more like herself after her hair was curled and styled! Praise the Lord for this little help!

She had 6 other visitors late afternoon who brightened her day and I saw her turn from barely speaking without catching her breath, to full sentences AND adding in humor! God is so good.

On my end, I was quite anxious most of the day because of her lung issue. I prayed and prayed that God wouldn't allow this to set her back. We worked our tails off on her lung exercises yet I allowed Satan to convince me that this would send her back to the hospital AND that the decision of good or bad was resting solely on my shoulders. So I drove down the mountain to get more diabetic safe foods and cried the whole way down. I spoke with my mother in law, Pat, which was a God-send and kinda let it all out, since I've been holding it in for Grandma's sake. I turned on worship music and really felt like I could turn it over to the Lord.

Anyway, she had no sign of breathing problems and her lungs sounded better last night. We had dinner at the table together, did another set of exercises and Grandma slept soundly last night! So God is so very very good.

Please continue to pray for wisdom for me, for ongoing strength for Grandma and for 100% resolution of her lung issues!

love,

shauna
